CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR HOLIDAY CLOSURE NOTICE:
The City will close at noon Tuesday, December 24 with limited morning inspections. We will be closed all day Wednesday, December 25 and Wednesday, January 1 for the Holidays with no inspections scheduled on either day.
Inspection requests received by the 11:00 PM deadline on Tuesday, December 24, will be scheduled on Thursday, December 26. Inspection requests received after the 11:00 PM deadline on Tuesday, or any time during the holiday, will be scheduled no earlier than Friday, December 27.
Inspection requests received by the 2:00 PM deadline on Tuesday, December 31, will be scheduled on Thursday, January 2. Inspection requests received after the 2:00 PM deadline on Tuesday, or any time during the holiday, will be scheduled no earlier than Friday, January 3. Please keep this in mind as you schedule your work.
NOTICE: You must have a current 2024 City of Des Moines business license to apply for a permit. If you do not have a current 2024 City business license, please go to our business license page to apply or renew your business license before applying for a permit. All Building, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Re-roof, and Fire permit applications must be submitted through our MyPermits Online portal.
For permit applications that require review, you will be asked to upload the relevant permit application and all required documents during the online application process. Please use the Electronic Plan Requirements for your submittal.
